Privacy Policy
Trama has no accounts and no servers of ours. Almost everything it knows stays on your device — but a peer-to-peer app has one consequence worth stating plainly, so it is the first thing below rather than a footnote.
Your IP address is visible to other participants
Trama plays streams over a peer-to-peer network. That means your device connects directly to other devices sharing the same stream, and they connect to yours. As with any peer-to-peer software — BitTorrent included — those participants can see your IP address, because a direct connection cannot be made without one.
We do not collect, store or transmit that address. We are simply not in the middle: there is no server of ours between you and them. If this matters for your situation, that is a property of peer-to-peer networking rather than of this app, and it applies whichever client you use.
What we do not do
- No account, no sign-up, no password.
- No server of ours receives what you watch, search for or add. We do not have one.
- No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers.
- We do not sell or share personal data. There is nothing to sell.
What stays on your device
Your channel list, any file you open and your settings are stored on the device and nowhere else. Deleting the app deletes them.
Crash reports and usage counts
Trama includes Google Firebase — Crashlytics (did it crash, and where) and Analytics (how many people opened it). Nothing else from Firebase.
Neither is switched on unless you say yes. Until you do, the software is never even started, which is a stronger statement than starting it with collection turned off. At the time of writing there is no way to say yes, so nothing is collected at all; when the question is added, it will be a question, and no will be a complete answer.
If you do agree, what is sent is about the app rather than about you: a crash stack trace, the device model and OS version, and a count of launches. We do not attach a user identifier, we do not send custom keys or log lines, and there is no code in the app capable of doing so. You can change your mind, and analytics stops immediately; crash reporting stops on the next launch, which is a limitation of the SDK rather than a choice.
Patreon
Connecting a Patreon account is optional and Trama works fully without it. If you connect one, you sign in on Patreon’s own site — we never see your password — and Trama receives a token that it stores in your device’s Keychain. We use it to ask Patreon one thing: whether you are currently a supporter. We do not receive your payment details, and we do not keep a copy of anything on our side. Disconnecting deletes the token from the device.
Patreon is an independent company and its own privacy policy applies to what it does with your account.
Children
Trama is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you may ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice the honest answer is that we hold none: without an account and without a server, there is nothing to look up. Write to us anyway if you want that in writing.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date below changes with it and the app will point you here.
